Why do some parts require 3D design drawings?
For parts with complex designs, most manufacturers will ask for 3D files. Compared with 2D plane drawings, 3D drawings can see the appearance and shape of the workpiece; It is best to add some dimensioning and processing requirements to the 3D graphics to form a display form that integrates 3D drawings and process cards; this will enable us to understand your design intent more intuitively and more accurately give appropriate processing plans.
Not all parts require 3D design drawings, and 2D pictures of parts with relatively simple design structures are sufficient, depending on the specific situation.
What are 3D design drawings?
Generally speaking, 3D drawing is that its internal design content is three-dimensional and has three coordinates of XYZ; while 2D design drawing is just like a traditional painting, it is only a plane drawing. Generally, only three views of the part are drawn.
3D design drawings and 2D design drawings complement each other. 3D is more accessible for people to understand and understand than 2D. Even people who don’t understand drawings can understand the content. 2D needs to be understood by those who see it in combination with each view. Of course, it does not mean that 2D is not necessary. For example, our engineers can’t look at the 3D design drawings on the computer during the production process. A 2D processing drawing on A4 paper is far more efficient than checking the size of the computer.
How should I get my 3D design drawings?
This problem is not complicated if you are a designer; you only need to install 3D software for industrial design on your computers, such as SOLIDWORKS, UG, and ProE. We recommend SOLIDWORKS software because it is easier to operate, and if you are a beginner, SOLIDWORKS software will be more friendly to you. Of course, we also recommend that you learn a series of 3D software operations before drawing.
We know that in most cases, you are not a designer. You can ask your part designer for 3D design drawings. Generally, your part designer will take the initiative to issue 3D design drawings for your complex parts. You only need to submit the project for review. Send it to your manufacturer, and everything will be easy!
